Letting AI agents write into your TMS
We want AI agents to do check calls. Can they write updates into our TMS?
Yes, and the question to ask first is what you'll let them write. Connect an agent read-only, let it write within limits you set, keep a person above the limit, and make every write undoable.
ASSUMEDWe assumed a brokerage with a visibility provider already in place for part of the carrier base.
Your stack, as you described it
Where people are the glue
- Reps make the calls an agent could make
- Status updates typed in by hand
Three ways through
- Use what you haveOften enough
If your visibility provider already tracks most of your carriers, the agent only needs to call the ones it can't see. Fix consent rates first.
- ConnectWhat we'd do
Wire a vendor agent (there are several good ones) into the TMS through an integration layer that logs every read and write, with limits, approvals and undo. Run covers it monthly.
- BuildOnly if it's your edge
Your own agent, on your own data, if carrier conversations are how you win business. Prototype it in weeks before you commit.
What happens next
- We check whether the process is written down and the TMS fields are clean enough for an agent to trust.
- The Diagnostic finds the loads an agent would touch first.
- Connect starts read-only.
